Dr. Jacob Flores, healthcare consultant for The Julia Group received his M.D. from the University of California, San Diego in 1992 and has spent the past thirty years serving low-income minority communities, ranging from high-poverty neighborhoods in Los Angeles to the indigenous people of Mexico to the Spirit Lake Nation.
Dr. Flores specializes in serving patients with intensive health care needs, including aging patients, and those with chronic health conditions and severe disability.
A former U.S. Marine, bilingual and the son of Mexican immigrants, Dr. Flores is an exemplar of the bicultural expertise and professional excellence offered by The Julia Group.
While still a medical student, he developed clinic in Tijuana to provide basic health education in such areas as nutrition and sanitation, and to offer health screening and referral to local indigent, indigenous people. With Dr. De Mars and Dr. Longie, he designed the Native American Health Careers Opportunity program, which received three years of funding to provide educational services to prepare Native American college students for medical school and allied health professions schools.
